The music industry is very competitive and one of the more difficult industries to break into, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Whether you are a Music Producer, Engineer, or Artist, you still may have what it takes to break into the music industry if you work hard and take the necessary steps.
Here is one example of how an emerging music business entrepreneur by the name of DJ Jersey Jon is building a platform for himself. At the age of twenty-two, Jersey Jon has now been working on his craft for roughly six years. Over the past years, he has seen an immense amount of success at an early age and gives his appreciation to the endless support he received from family and friends.
DJing was not his first goal as a kid Jonathan Anwar known as Jersey Jon was very passionate about being a perfectionist at a very early age and did not find his true passion for his music until his first year in college. By his senior year of high school, he established a strong foundation by working with local musicians and event planners to throw “venue parties” and local house parties.
Never would he have thought that these small actions would have gotten him on tour with major acts like Juice Wrld, Ski Mask the Slump God, or even Fatboy SSE.
Time and Effort Leading to Success
Success was not achieved overnight, Jersey Jon did countless parties to find out he had a talent in his chosen field, here is where he started investing his capital into running shows at major theaters with his business partners Jon met throughout his musical journey.

In 2019, he noticed that he was getting the support of his community. So Jon decided to focus a majority of his time scaling not only his name as a DJ but also as an event planner and bringing new musicians to his home state.
With every success story comes hardships, and when DJ Jersey Jon thought he was at his peak, everything took a turn for the worse. He lost his Instagram page that was at 150 thousand followers when being disabled by Instagram for not following the community guidelines.
This took a major toll on his career, from being booked every single weekend to not seeing him in public or on social media leaving fans concerned. Despite the setbacks, Jon refused to give up and made a promise to himself and his fans that he will be taking the year to focus on himself to rebuild his platform to come back stronger and more passionate than before. With consistency and discipline, Jersey Jon achieved exactly what he set up for himself and is working harder now than before.
Jon’s Untraditional Introduction to the Music Industry
Jon’s approach to the music industry was a little different from his peers, he chose to stick through college despite dropping out once to be able to tour across the nation. He quickly decided that online schooling is a great alternative to being able to get real-life experience in the industry while still being able to achieve his marketing degree at Rutgers University.
His interest in education continues outside of the classroom environment, attending networking events and informational seminars to better himself as a matter of being able to add value to his career. With skillsets like SEO, HTML, Data analytics, Email marketing, Social media marketing, and well verse creativity when it comes to guerilla marketing, all make him a very powerful marketer.
Having many skill sets as a marketer makes him valuable in the music industry, compared to others that only run off of passion. Being able to implement your knowledge into your work is where you see results. Jon’s experience at an early age places him at an advantage compared to other DJs in his lane because he chooses to attack the industry from many approaches.
Having resources to be able to book himself and pitch other acts as a Talent Agent makes him stand out. Jersey Jon is always mingling with new buyers weekly and helping him build a brand in new markets. Being very determined to be a student of the industry, Jon is always looking for new ways to add value to other musicians in his niche.
Finding success in his current tactics DJ Jersey Jon has been adding new approaches to his business daily. From recently releasing music as a producer on streaming platforms to starting an informational podcast.
In addition to his growth, he has been innovating the way talent buyers acquire data analytics off every show, to maximize profit for future events. Some of his future goals have not been publicly mentioned but from what we’ve seen on his social media platforms, it seems like he will be giving us more information on how his future will be attacking the industry from all angles.
