The GardenComm Virtual Conference, an event for garden communicators, is now open for registration. The event is scheduled for August 11-14. It will offer attendees exclusive looks at new plant varieties and garden products, networking opportunities with editors seeking fresh talent, and education for enhancing communication skills.

“The GardenComm Virtual Conference is the leading event for professional and aspiring writers, authors, bloggers, social media influencers, photographers, marketers, public relations specialists, podcasters, and others to gain insight from industry experts to advance attendees’ careers in garden communications,” says Jo Ellen Meyers Sharp, President of GardenComm. “We will be offering 12 educational sessions, five virtual private tours of gardens from around the world, and countless networking opportunities.”

Over four days, attendees will learn how to take plant photos with a smartphone, build a speaking business, create engaging email marketing strategies, talk about gardens in a post-COVID world, and more.

Session topics will include:

  • Moving From Non-Fiction to Fiction with Amy Stewart
  • Working the Plant Geek Way: An Insight into a Hortpreneur with Michael Perry
  • Anatomy of a Garden Book Proposal with Mary-Kate Mackey
  • Building a Speaking Business In-Person and Virtually with C.L. Fornari
  • Maximizing Your Reach on Instagram: Reels, Stories, Guides, and IGTV with Callie Works-Leary
  • How to Create an Effective and Engaging Email Marketing Strategy with Rebekah Miel

  • GE versus GMO: Do You Know? with Louise Clarke
  • Press Releases for Garden Communicators with Kathy Jentz
  • Plant and Shoot – Smartphone Photography for Plant People with Grace Hensley

The virtual conference will also include a special meet-the-authors session, where attendees can learn about the best new gardening books, as well as a virtual trade show for attendees to meet with industry representatives from dozens of green industry companies.

There will also be a keynote address by Shaun Spencer-Hester, Executive Director of the Anne Spencer House and Garden Museum, the only known restored garden of a historic African American in the U.S.
